HTC promised that it would roll out the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the One (M8) and One (M7) 90 days after it gets the final code from Google. It got the final code from the search giant back in November, which means we should expect the Lollipop update for HTC’s 2013 and 2014 flagships this month. But what about the other smartphones in its lineup? A leak allegedly reveals when to expect the latest version of Android for these handsets.
Vietnamese site HTCViet is responsible for the leak. It claims that in the second quarter of this year (April to June), the Desire Eye is expected to get Lollipop treatment. In the third quarter of this year (July to September), the One Max, One Mini 2, and the Desire 816 are expected to get the latest version of Android. From the third to the fourth quarter of 2015 (July to December), the Desire 610, Desire 510, and One Mini will get Lollipop.
The site also reveals when to expect HTC’s popular UI Sense 7. It claims that HTC will start rolling out the latest version of their UI to smartphones after the release of the HTC Hima. HTC’s next flagship is expected to launch in March. It will be the first smartphone to come pre-installed with the latest version of the UI.
Of course, since this is a rumour, take it with a grain of salt.
